I Corinthians: Burning for our Purpose, Strategy & Focus (Will Rutt)

Context: Paul wrote to the church in the ancient city of Corinth - like today's Las Vegas. The church grew there even in sin city because it shared a common purpose and strategy. In 2026, we hope that all of Sandhurst will go from "that love and obey God thing" to burning for our purpose, strategy and focus. This is important because in confusing times we return to simplicity. In disorienting times, we return to the foundation - and our simple foundation is our PURPOSE, lived through our STRATEGY, filtered by our FOCUS. Let's go!
Text: I Corinthians 1:1-9 and Acts 18:1-17 (Paul's visit to Corinth)
Relationship: Share a high light or low light from the break, or goal for 2026...
Purpose: Sandhurst has a simple, common PURPOSE, a foundation shared with all believers - who knows what the three icons represent in the graphic below?

Strategy: Sandhurst has a simple, Biblical STRATEGY (or "playbook") to live out our purpose: Applying discipleship priorities in real life environments.
What are our four discipleship priorities in our playbook? (can you say without looking?)

"TROC" = Truth, Relationship, Opportunity, aCcountability
Turn to Paul's visit at Corinth in Acts 18:
Which priority/ies does Paul apply in V1-4?
Which in V5-6?
Which in V7-8? (doesn't have to be new)
Which in V23? (going back to check on people...)
Which in V27?
What is Sandhurst's simple model to teach these discipleship priorities?
How do we learn these four priorities in these four environments below (middle)?

How can we get these four discipleship priorities actually into our lives? What barriers are there to this, and how can we overcome them? Share a personal strategy you have to:
Learn and/or speak truth? (e.g. favorite Bible reading plan)
Build relationships? (to minimize doomscrolling we use and recommend the Brick)
Be equipped for ministry opportunities? (Peru mission? Other service?)
Be accountable to others to be faithful?
Acts 18:9-10: Does this resonate with you? What do you see here? Do you think this is still true - and in Florence? If so - what does that mean for us?
Growth: What is a key application you take from this passage / message?
Prayer
