SANDHURST

PRIME TIMERS

Psalm 92:14-15

They will still bear fruit in old age, they will stay fresh and green, proclaiming, "The LORD is upright; He is my Rock, and there is no wickedness in Him."

Prime Timers is a ministry to, among, and through our senior adults. Our seniors usually meet as a group on the third Tuesday of each month, except during the summer months. Generally, these meetings consist of a luncheon with a challenge from God’s word, a video or pictorial introduction to Sandhurst’s missionary family, or the presentation of an opportunity to personally grow through serving others. Other times throughout the year the group enjoys trips to museums, concerts, or other special times of fellowship.

Aging does not mean growing old, it means growing stronger in the faith and serving others. The Seniors Ministry at Sandhurst seeks to encourage our senior adults to grow in their personal relationship and walk with the Lord Jesus Christ, while equipping each other to share our faith and disciple others. Just as any other age group, seniors have an ongoing calling to continue in faithfulness to God and His people, while serving our community and the world.

While society sadly marginalizes seniors, God honors them (Lev 19:32, Titus 2:2, I Pet 5:5) and so does Sandhurst! As a multi-generational church, Sandhurst ministers to its seniors in order that they would minister to others. We recognize that seniors are a unique resource of wisdom and experience. In the Gospel of John, Jesus tells us that we are all to bear fruit as a result of our abiding in Him and in His word. This command has no age limit and certainly challenges all of us to ‘still bear fruit in old age.'
