Context: In the face of divisions around popular church leaders, Paul urges all believers to prepare for the Bema judgment by building well on the foundation of Christ alone.


  1. Relate: Watch and discuss this short:

  2. Text: Read I Corinthians 3:9-17. Don't rush. What stands out?

  3. V10-13: Paul indicates ALL believers are building on the foundation of Christ. Who are some lay Christians (not pastors) who built quality spiritual things into your life? Tell that story... How have you planted or watered in others' lives?

  4. V12-15: If you were the "spiritual contractor" building your Christian life, one a scale of 1 (straw) to 10 (gold), what is the quality of your building? What next steps could you take to grow stronger?

  5. V16-17: What is the "temple" in this immediate context? What is the warning Paul gives to careless builders?
