GATHERING: Q'S for next Sunday March 15
Message: Glorifying God (Pt 2): Sexual Purity (Will Rutt)
Text: I Corinthians 6:12-20
Context: Paul continues his challenge to the church - here correcting proud sexual immorality based on an abuse of grace
Relate: True or False and why: the freedom to do something doesn't make it right or good.
Text: Read I Corinthians 6:12-20. Don't rush. What stands out?
V12: These opening words are an "everything goes" quote from the Corinthian believers. What was their theology of the body and how did it lead to this?
The modern idea that sexually "everything goes" in western urban centers also stands on a deeper theology or belief system about man - what is it?
V14: What is Paul arguing by pointing to the resurrection of Christ?
V15: What is Paul arguing by reminding us our bodies are members of Christ?
V16-17: What connection is there between the spiritual and the physical? Why does that make sexual sin uniquely significant?
V18: How tactic does Paul teach Christians to take in dealing with sexual immorality?
V19-20: What does it mean, "You are not your own; you were bought with a price."? What does that mean about the way we treat our bodies and lives?
The Bible draws clear boundaries around sexual unions, commonly known as "morals." What deeper truths do these morals point to?
Growth: What is a key application you take from this passage / message?
