GATHERING: Q'S for next Sunday February 8
Exalting The "foolish message" not simple - a mystery The Spirit reveals (Will Rutt)
Text: I Corinthians 2:6-16
Context: Paul explains the wisdom of the gospel is revealed to us by God's Spirit. In other words, true wisdom is "secret" - not meaning only a few know it, but rather that only God knows it, and reveals it freely to all who seek.
Relationship: Have you ever heard life wisdom from an older person, but didn't think much about it till you were in that situation and then it became real? Share a story of wisdom you "knew" with your mind but only later with your heart and life...
Text: Read I Corinthians 2:6-16. Don't rush. What stands out?
V7: What does Paul mean by God's "secret wisdom"? (Hint: I Cor 2:2 and 15:1-4)
V10-13: How do you get this secret wisdom?
V13-14: Why doesn't everyone have this wisdom?
The Corinthians were evaluating the worth of someone's wisdom based on their wealth and power. Does that still happen? What does it look like in our modern culture?
V6-16: Why is this passage here? How does it serve the Corinthians?
Growth: What is a key application you take from this passage / message?
Prayer
