Life Group Q's: Gathering recap and Equipping preview

Questions for NEXT Sunday (Feb 8) here

GATHERING RECAP: Questions for Friday January 30

Text: I Corinthians 1:26-2:5 - Paul's Boast Story, "By God's doing..." (message by Will Rutt)

Context: "by God's doing": Paul shows us the "foolishness" of God's wisdom and power at work in us the foolish and weak to remind all the powerful that they need God...

  1. Relationship: Can you point to something in your life that is truly, literally, and only there by God's doing? In the service we took a moment to compose our 1-sentence personal boast story that began, "By God's doing..." Who's willing to share?..

  2. Text: Read I Corinthians 1:26-2:5. Don't rush. What stands out?

  3. V27-8: What subject & verb repeats three times? Why does Paul repeat this? (Hint: v29)

  4. V29: Find the cross-reference to the verse in Ephesians, read that verse (2:9), and see Paul's "boast story" in the next verse (2:10).

  5. Reread Eph 2:10 and begin with "By God's doing..." What does this mean for all the good things in our lives? (now back to I Corinthians...)

  6. V31: What does Paul's command here have to do with "by God's doing..." in V30?

  7. 2:1-5: Paul tells his boast story as an example of "by God's doing..." Again - in one sentence, how would you tell your boast story - "By God's doing..." (If by God's doing, some person were a part of God's blessing you - text that person to thank them.)

  8. Growth: What is a key application you take from this passage / message?

  9. Prayer
