GATHERING RECAP: Questions for Sun Feb 8
Message: God's Wisdom - Christ Crucified (Will Rutt)
Text: I Corinthians 2:6-16
Context: Paul explains the wisdom of God is very different from the wisdom of this world
Relationship: Can you think of one-liners that capture the spirit of the age or "worldly wisdom" - in other words, what are some proverbs people live by that are in the end not life-giving? And what would God's wisdom say instead?
Text: Read I Corinthians 2:6-16. Don't rush. What stands out?
V7: What does Paul mean by God's "secret wisdom"? (Hint: I Cor 1:22-4 and 15:1-4)
V10-13: How do you get this secret wisdom?
V13-14: Why doesn't everyone have this wisdom?
The Corinthians were evaluating the worth of someone's wisdom based on their wealth and power. Does that still happen? What does it look like in our modern culture?
V6-16: Why is this passage here? How does it serve the Corinthian believers - and us?
Growth: What is a key application you take from this passage / message?
Prayer
