Easter Events + Parent Partnership

Dates You Need to Know for the Easter Season

Easter is a wonderful time for remembering the resurrection of Jesus! And, for parents and other kid-influencers, it is a great time to help them consider Christ as well. Our schedule is organized to give you and your family the best opportunities to do that. We want you to maximize time together, participate in our Easter events (and help your kids grasp the gravity of God’s work in saving his people), and engage in the uniqueness of the Easter season.

Our culture understands and tries to make the most of the Christmas season. The Incarnation is beyond wonderful. But our culture doesn’t invest in the Easter season with the same enthusiasm. But Christmas and Easter need each other to matter as much as they do. In order to rightly celebrate Christmas, we need Easter. So, please make the most of the Easter season. Talk about Jesus. Come to the special events at church. Listen to resurrection songs at home. Eat special meals (and pie!). Here are our Easter-Season adjustments:

4/5: No Kids on Mission (freeing families to celebrate Easter-week)

4/7: Good Friday Service (5pm). Kids’ activities available for preK/early elementary (31 months-3rd grade).

4/9: Sunrise Service (6:30am) with breakfast afterward + No 9am Sunday School.

4/9: Easter Service (10:15am) with Elementary kids in the service. We will still have nursery and preK-Gathering.

4/12: No Kids on Mission (FS1 Spring Break/Intersession)

4/29: 5th Sunday Gathering. This is a gospel-focused, kid-facing version of our service with Elementary kids in there with parents.

You should also know that on 5/3, we will have a whole family event instead of Kids on Mission. I’ll share more details soon, but there will be trained dogs, food, and the gospel. It will be a great time! That’s not an Easter-event, but it is coming soon so mark your calendars.

As always, email Kelly.Hayes@Sandhurst.net with any questions.

Parent Partnership: Wednesday (4/5/23) and Sunday (4/9/23)

Everything a parent/volunteer team-member needs to know about this week is below. You’ll find the Scripture passages, the specific pages in our children’s Bible, the teaching video, and some questions to use at home. We use The Beginner’s Gospel Story Bible and RightNowMedia for teaching and Planning Center Services for scheduling.

On Wednesday, we will NOT have KidsOnMission. We are being careful not to over-program church events and want to create space for families to spend lots of time together this Easter Season. We DO have a Good Friday service at 5pm on 4/7. There will be a kids’ event for preschoolers and early elementary kids (31 months-3rd grade).

On Sunday, we will have:
  • 6:30AM. Sunrise service with breakfast afterward.

  • No Sunday School/Sandhurst U

  • 10:15 Easter Celebration Service. Elementary kids are in the service.

    • Preschoolers will continue moving through the The Beginner’s Gospel Story Bible. We are looking at Story 42: Jesus Died for Us (Luke 22-23) and Story 43: Jesus Lives (Matt 28:1-16).
